GDPR compliance: your questions answered

TextBack Pro is registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) as a data processor. As a business using TextBack Pro, you are the data controller and remain responsible for ensuring your use of the platform complies with your own obligations under UK GDPR.

TextBack Pro operates on a legitimate interest basis under Article 6(1)(f) of UK GDPR. Responding to someone who has just called your business number is generally accepted as a legitimate interest. This basis allows an SMS to be sent in direct response to a missed call without requiring prior explicit consent from the caller.

When a caller replies STOP to any message from your TextBack Pro number, they are immediately added to your opt-out list. No further automated SMS messages are sent to that number. The opt-out is logged with a timestamp in your dashboard. Attempting to send a message to an opted-out number is blocked at the system level.

Conversation data is retained for the duration of your active subscription. When a subscription ends, data is retained for a further 30 days to allow for account reinstatement, after which it is permanently deleted. You can delete any individual caller's data manually at any time from the dashboard to comply with a right-to-erasure request.
